Adult Ministry

What's Happening for the Adults?

Scott City First United Methodist Church creates many opportunities for every person to fully achieve a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ.  Here are some of those opportunities:

Worship is a sharing of praise and prayer each Sunday.

Sunday School adult classes gather each Sunday in four different groups to discuss how to follow Christ and support each other on this journey.

UMW (United Methodist Women) meets in three fellowship circles throughout the month and holds a monthly General Meeting.

Music Ministry groups gather to sing and play: Chancel Choir, and Handbell/Handchime Choir.

Bible Studies are offered throughout the week (dates and times vary so contact us for more information):

  • At the church, Wednesday evenings during Higher Ground @ 6:00 p.m.
  • In homes.

Prayer Groups lift up our church, members, and community in prayer weekly.

  • Women's Prayer group meets at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in the church library.
  • Men's Prayer group meets at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church.

Committees/Teams for ministry gather throughout the month; ministry is planned and carried out by many dedicated teams.  Join one today!

Volunteer Activities happen on a regular basis; find out what skills and talents are needed to help the church stay vital and functional.

"Loving One Another" Ministries include Care and Share, Good Samaritan, Helping Hands, and the Hope's Closet (local breadbasket) Sharing Sunday's; these are ways we care for members and our community.
